For over 50 years, 1965-present, the DeLeón Club of Victoria has been in existence. I like to refer to it as “the best kept secret in Victoria”.
Chartered by some prominent Hispanic businessmen of Victoria, the organization takes its name after the Colony’s founder, Don Martín DeLeón. The Club’s primary mission was and continues to be one of providing service to the community through educational scholarships plus promoting Hispanic cultural pride.
Numerous and area high school students have embarked on a course of higher education after graduation through our scholarship program; to date over $250,000 has been awarded. Proceeds, from the Christmas Dance held annually in December, have been used to fund these scholarships. To fulfill the objective of instilling Hispanic cultural pride, the DeLeón Club and the University of Houston-Victoria collaborate to promote each year a symposium educating the community on various issues impacting Mexican-American history.
Although small in number, the DeLeon Club is made up of hard-working members that are proud and committed individuals to the mission. Thank for visiting our website. Enjoy it. Stop by to say hello to us at our next event. Above all thank you for your continual SUPPORT!
